About Independent SoCal French Bulldog Rescue
Independent SoCal French Bulldog Rescue was founded in 2023 by Debra Munt to provide a safe, compassionate path for French Bulldogs in need throughout Southern California. Our rescue is led by a dedicated Board of Directors and is 100% volunteer-run, with volunteers managing every aspect of the organization—from intake, foster coordination, and adoptions to fundraising, transportation, medical support, and behind-the-scenes operations.
We rescue dogs from shelters, owner surrenders, and other situations across Southern California, giving each one the medical care, rehabilitation, and love they need before finding their forever home.
As a nonprofit rescue, we rely entirely on donations, foster homes, and adopters to continue our mission. Every donation, every foster family, every volunteer, and every adopter plays a vital role in giving these deserving dogs a second chance.

As founder, president, and head Frenchie queen, Debra has been involved in the rescuing of French and English bulldogs for more than two decades. Not only does she coordinate the daily rescue operations, she has adopted more than 20 dogs of her own!
Our president leads the charge with her medical expertise, arranging all medical care for our fostered Frenchies. It is because of her knowledge, experience, and leadership SCFBR is able to continue to rescue, rehabilitate, and rehome French Bulldogs.
Her love of saving Frenchies is only dwarfed by the size of her heart.
Lindsey Biurquiz – Director
INITAL BOARD OF DIRECTORS

Lindsey has been involved with French Bulldogs and Bulldogs for more than 15 years and shares her home with rescued Frenchies. As a member of the Board, she provides an objective voice when important decisions need to be made, helping ensure every discussion is thoughtful, fair, and focused on what's best for the dogs and the rescue.
Taylor Santiago – Director/Core Volunteer

Hi, I’m Taylor! I’m a board member and part of the fundraising team for SoCal French Bulldog Rescue. I have two foster fails from the rescue, Havoc and Chaos, who inspired my passion for helping French Bulldogs find the loving homes they deserve.
When I’m not volunteering, I’m cheering on the San Diego Padres, LA Chargers, or Colorado Avalanche. I live in sunny San Diego with Havoc and Chaos and love giving back to a rescue that’s changed my life.
Charli Alu – Core Volunteer
SOCIAL MEDIA MANAGER
ORANGE COUNTY, CA
Charli began her rescue journey with English Bulldogs nearly eight years ago. When the popularity of French Bulldog began five years ago, she transitioned to volunteer with Debra at SCFBR.
In the beginning, Charli volunteered with SCFBR to coordinate the fundraising and social media needs of the rescue. As the rescue grew, social media became her main focus, along with assuming the intake coordinator position.
As the first core volunteer with SCFBR, Charli takes great pride in knowing she is helping to make a difference in the lives of sick and injured French Bulldogs. She even adopted Wilbur, who fostered with Debra before the rescue became an official non-profit!
rochelle matson – Core Volunteer
FOSTER & ADOPTION COORDINATOR
ORANGE COUNTY, CA
I've raised French Bulldogs for over a decade and have firsthand experience managing many of the breed's medical and behavioral challenges, including IVDD, BOAS, TECA surgery, allergies, and training. Since joining the rescue in 2023, I've combined that experience with my professional background in executive HR to help evaluate foster and adoption applicants and match dogs with the right homes.
AMANDA ROSS – Core Volunteer
FUNDRAISING COORDINATOR
LOS ANGELES, CA
I've spent more than 50 years caring for dogs of many breeds and have worked closely with professional trainers throughout my life. My journey with French Bulldogs began in 2025 when I adopted my first two Frenchies. I joined the rescue later that year as Volunteer Fundraising Coordinator, where I help support the rescue's mission by building community support and raising funds for dogs in need.
SHANEL ESPINOZA – Core Volunteer
TECHNOLOGY AND OPERATIONS COORDINATOR
SAN DIEGO, CA
I've loved French Bulldogs for many years and have firsthand experience raising, fostering, and adopting the breed. After fostering two Frenchies, I officially joined the rescue as a volunteer in 2025. Professionally, I'm an engineer and help support the rescue behind the scenes through website management, Google Workspace, documentation, forms, nonprofit software, and other technical projects that keep things running smoothly.
AMY STANFIELD – Core Volunteer
TRANSPORTATION COORDINATOR

I've been volunteering with animal rescue for nearly 30 years, including serving on the Board of Directors and later as Vice President of the Mary S. Roberts Pet Adoption Center. I share my home with five French Bulldogs and have extensive experience with the breed and their unique care needs. I joined SoCal French Bulldog Rescue in 2025 and enjoy using my rescue, leadership, and management experience to help dogs find the loving homes they deserve.
