Thank you for considering adoption through SoCal French Bulldog Rescue (SCFBR). Our dogs come from many different situations, and we work hard to place each Frenchie in a safe, loving home where they can thrive.
Step 1: View available dogs
Step 2: Submit an application
Step 3: Virtual Home Check
Step 4: If approved, we coordinate next steps and finalize the adoption
Timing varies based on the dog’s needs, vetting, and scheduling with our volunteers.
All adoptions are based on the best fit for the dog, including lifestyle, household setup, and each dog’s individual needs.
Adoptions are not first-come, first-served. Each dog is placed based on the best overall match.
Adoption donations are age-based (sliding scale):
This donation helps cover rescue care, spay/neuter, and veterinary expenses for this dog and other French Bulldogs in need. On average, dogs in our rescue cost $1,600+ in medical care, and some require $6,000+ to rehabilitate.
Our dogs are in foster homes across Southern California, including San Diego, Orange County, Los Angeles, Ventura County, Riverside County, San Bernardino County, and surrounding areas.
We do adopt outside of California for the right match. Transportation and adoption requirements may vary depending on location.
Available dogs change frequently. If you don’t see the right match today, please check back soon. We also sometimes share upcoming dogs on our Facebook and Instagram before they are officially listed.
You may apply for a dog you’re interested in and your application will be reviewed for best fit. If a dog isn’t the right match, you may remain on our approved adoption list so we can continue helping you find the best fit.
Submitting an application does not guarantee adoption, and we may receive multiple applications for the same dog.
Yes! We do adopt out of state for the right match. Some adoptions may require additional coordination and planning.
Our dogs receive veterinary care while in rescue, but many French Bulldogs have ongoing medical needs. We cannot guarantee future health. All dogs are adopted as-is.
We cannot guarantee any rescued dog is good with children. We can share what we know from their history, but behavior can change in a new environment.
Sometimes, yes — some of our dogs have lived peacefully with cats in their foster home. However, we cannot guarantee that any rescued dog will be cat-safe in every home or situation. For safety reasons, we also do not “cat test” dogs by exposing a cat to see how the dog reacts.
SCFBR has a Right of First Refusal, meaning if you can’t keep the dog for any reason, you must contact us first so we can take the dog back and ensure they stay safe.
No — adopters may not give, sell, or transfer the dog to another person or shelter. If you can’t keep the dog, SCFBR must be contacted to reclaim the dog.
No. SCFBR does not provide insurance once the dog is adopted, and we encourage adopters to consider appropriate coverage.
Yes. Adopters agree to provide regular veterinary care, including exams, vaccinations, and preventatives as recommended by their veterinarian.
Please contact us immediately if your adopted dog is lost. We strongly recommend dogs always wear ID tags and stay properly identifiable. All of our dogs are microchipped upon adoption, and it’s important to keep your contact information up to date.
It varies. Some adoptions move quickly, while others take longer depending on the dog's medical needs, scheduling, locations, and best fit review.
SCFBR does not accept into rescue any dog with a history of biting a person.
SoCal French Bulldog Rescue is 100% foster-based and volunteer-run. Our dogs live in foster homes across Southern California (not in a shelter), and adoption timelines may vary based on medical care and readiness.
